My weekly Sunday Snapshot blog gives me an opportunity to look back on my sleeper picks from the past week and rate their performance.
Wade Davis
Davis was a bust this week. According to reports, he couldn't get loose before his start against the Twins. That contributed to the Twins success on the evening. They routed Davis for six runs on ten hits Thursday. The damage came over a six inning period as Davis was lifted to protect his throwing arm after slight discomfort. Davis' next start may be in jeopardy because of his injury.
John Jay
Jay impressed in the first week after inheriting a starting job in the Cardinals outfield. He hit .308 with four runs scored and an RBI. Jay is playing nearly everyday for the Cardinals and looks to be a help in both batting average and runs in most mixed formats.
Jack Cust
Similar to Jay, Cust has been hitting for a high average since the break. Cust batted .273 on the week but added just one run scored. Though Cust can provide a stellar average and the occasional power streak, he plays for a struggling Oakland A's club. That makes Cust a less appealing option than Jay, who plays for the contending Cardinals and within a lineup that includes Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday among others.
