Readers, sorry for the lack of articles over the past few weeks on Sandlot Sabermetrics. I have been busy preparing for my return to Syracuse University for my sophomore year of college. I'm now back on campus and ready to get back into the swing of things. Expect more frequent articles through the end of the fantasy baseball season.
Freddy Sanchez
The Giants second baseman has lit up over the past two weeks. Over the period he is hitting .471 with seven runs and four RBI's. Sanchez has taken advantage of increased playing time due to his defensive prowess. He is no longer platooning with Mike Fontenot and thus can be utilized in deeper mixed formats as a stopgap option.
Ryan Raburn
Since taking over for an injured Magglio Ordonez in the Tigers outfield, Raburn has been unstoppable. He's batting .300 over the past two weeks and deserves a look in most mixed leagues. Raburn has also flashed some power with three home runs and nine RBI's over the same period. He has the potential to be a starting outfielder in all mixed formats and should be added immediately.
Brian Matusz
Matusz might be finally realizing his potential. He has a 2.84 ERA over his past three starts. Look for Matusz to continue to improve as the season winds down. He is 2-1 with 13 strikeouts over the past two weeks and should be added in most mixed leagues.
